This paper shows the application of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for monitoring the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL), with temperature profile measurements, in order to obtain the Richardson Number. The system has the capacity to contribute in applications in wind energy, meteorology, air quality, hydrology, mesoscale meteorology, biometeorology, study of waves electromagnetic propagation and models of weather and climate forecast. As a result, it was observed that moderately intense wind conditions and additional instrumentation weight (temperature sensors) have not compromised the stability and autonomy of the quadricopter. Therefore, the use of UAVs in atmospheric measurements, in addition to those usually used in data collection, such as ground platform, towers, meteorological balloons, radiosondes, manned airplanes, lidar, sodar and radar, has proved to be advantageous and applicable.
